How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6034264 / W10890667 Refrigerator Evaporator Drip Pan

The rear wheels of the fridge are poorly designed and pop up out of place into the pan when moving the fridge and eventually cracked the pan. As others have stated, you need to prop the fridge up with at least a 4x4 on front and back. I was able to do this without emptying the fridge. Be sure to not put the 4x4 under the right front corner as it will rest on the pan and you won't be able to remove the pan. I'm not sure it makes it any easier to remove the two screws in the back corner as one suggested, but I had already done that when I removed the pan. I was able to slide the fan in the back out of the way and pull the pan out the back and slide the new pan in place the same way. Took probably an hour or so because the screws are difficult to get to with the fridge propped up and having to slide between the fridge and the counter to get to the rear of it. If I had to do it again it would take much less time. 

Pulled fridge away from wall and blocked up the front and left rear corners. (With a partner: Tilted fridge back, placed 4x4 block under front of fridge, Then tilted fridge forward, place 4x4 block under left rear corner.) Unscrewed 3 Torx bolts from bottom (right rear corner) of fridge to free the fan, moved it to the side. Unscrewed 4 screws attaching drain pan to bottom of fridge. Replace pan. Reinstalled screws, reposition fan, reinstalled bolts. 

Unplugged and tilted frig to one side, placed a 4x4 to hold it up and unscrewed drain pan, it’s a little difficult maneuvering the pan out, but it can be done with a little patience. 

Replaced with new one.
