How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008294 / WP338906 Flame Sensor

Replaced coils and thermal switch. 

Replaced with two parts 

I wasn't sure what the problem was, but the most obvious and inexpensive items to replace were the igniter, coil kit and flame sensor. I bought all of these for less than a service charge from a repair company. Replacing these parts took less than 15 minutes. I'm still not sure which item was faulty, but the dryer works great again. 

My Maytag front load dryer was having an issue fully drying. I came to this site (which I absolutely love!) and purchased moisture bar sensor and thermistor parts. Got the parts by the end of the next day ($10 shipping option) but that did not do the trick. While testing the new parts I noticed that the flame would light for about 5 minutes, go out, relight for a few more minutes, then never go back on despite having a good glow from the igniter. It would also make a clicking noise when trying to relight so I decided to purchase gas valve coil and flame sensor parts. After same quick delivery, I installed the new coil kit and the dryer worked perfectly. I would have also replaced the flame sensor but I probably would have had to remove the drum since it is difficult to get at the one screw that holds it in. AppliancePartsPros rock! 

Got wire diagram from APP which was a big help. Shot-gunned the coils, flame sensor and igniter since dryer was apart. The video was a tremendous help. The cost of the parts still cost less than a service call and the wait for shipping over the holiday was no greater than the scheduled call. Great help APP. 

Changed out sensor , ignitor and coils 

We replaced the thermal fuse and the cycling thermostat behind the rear panel. 

Researched most likely parts and installed them all except the ignitor, because the gas would initially ignite, but kept the ignitor since I have had to replace that part in the past. 

Replaced the two valve coils and the high limit thermostat. Has been working fine now ever since. Found your fix it video helpful. Also found a good trouble shooting video on you tube to narrow down the problem. Had never worked on a dryer before. 

Maytag Atlantis dryer. Heat would not turn on at all. Ordered the Flat style dryer igniter along with some other parts just in case. Dryer Igniter was first thing I tried and it worked right away. Will return other parts or just keep since in expensive. Watched the videos on the website. Was super easy to install. Hopefully dryer last another year.
