How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4135008 / D7824706Q Ice Maker

Ice kept sticking inside the ice maker, discovered that the Teflon coating inside the ice tray mold was almost all peeled off. The ice was therefore sticking to the bare rough metal and would not be ejected properly. Purchased the icemaker kit, and watched the video which was AWESOME!! The repair took all of maybe 20 minutes, literally 3 simple screws to remove/loosen, and the video was so good, perfect step by step instructions. Only snafu we ran into was our screws were actually hex head screws so we had to use a socket wrench to remove 1 and loosen the other 2, but really wasn't a big deal. Super happy that we fixed the problem ourselves, got a great price on the part, the part fit perfectly and was shipped quickly. Saved us hundreds I'm sure versus paying a repair person. Definitely use this website again to find parts and the corresponding repair videos in the future if need be! 

Purchased and installed Whirlpool Icemaker Kit. The only issue with the kit was that it included 4 different plug configurations, none of which fit my refrigerator. I ended up reusing the existing plug and it worked fine. 

Easy. 5 minute replacement with OEM part Cost: Part = 138 Labor = 0 Benefit to the environment = priceless 

Logged on to AppliancePartsPro.com and found the replacement ice maker. Super easy replacement and we’re back in business with good, clean ice!

Got the new part from AppliancePartsPros.com and used the self-help video to install it. 

I hopped on the AppliancePartsPros website (I had ordered from here before) and searched for the ice maker part. Once I found it, using the fridge model number) I watched the video on how to replace the ice maker. Looked simple enough. It took me less than 30 minutes to do it. An hour later, ice cubes! 

Replaced ice maker. Very easy to replace. loosen 2 screws with nut driver, remove 1 screw with nut driver, unplug wiring harness from back wall and remove ice maker. After reusing wire harness and end cover, installed new ice maker by reversing the above removal process. Took about 1 1/2 hours for freezer to cool enough to make ice cubes. Works perfectly. The best part of the process was that I ordered the ice maker on Friday, shipped out the same day and i received it the next day! Very Happy with part and delivery.

After installing the new ice maker, it started making ice after 12 hours. and then every 4 to 6 hours after that.
