How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4135008 / D7824706Q Ice Maker

Bought the new ice maker. My daughter and I did the repair. The ice maker replacement was easy. Because it is a bottom freezer, Getting the top tray in freezer was very difficult. So we ended up leaving it in and working around it. It was difficult reaching in to loosen/remove screws and reaching in to replace them. I am a 67 year old woman and my daughter is 41. We watched a few YouTube videos to learn how to do it. 

Ordered a new icemaker-You tube videos sure helped with the simple installation.

Ordered a genuine Whirlpool part from AppliancePartsPros.com. It was worth every penny. No leaking, cubes are all separate. Lesson learned that you get what you pay for. I will stop buying generic junk ice makers from online retailers and come back here if/when I need a replacement. 

Replaced the icemaker on my Kenmore refrigerator. New icemaker part went in easily and 3-4 hours later it was producing ice. 

Replaced the ice maker with a new one from AppliancePartsPros.com. The video on their website made it so easy and quick. 

Replaced my broken icemaker with the part shown above. The videos are somewhat helpful in that you know the order of steps and tools needed. My particular appliance had a cage that held the icemaker in place. Only two screws needed to be removed from the icemaker. Take my advice and remove the white cover from the front of the broken icemaker first. This makes the removal much easier! Same on the way back in: put the white cover on last after you have the screws on the icemaker nice and tight. And wipe your grimy handprints off the cover before you close the door.
