How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013140 / WP8546127 Retainer Clip

Replaced the pump 

Purchased new clips from Appliance Parts Pros 

A former repair man deleted the grommets from the motor mount plate, the spring fastening the motor to the bracket broke the screw inside the motor and once the motor fell out of place the drive to the the transmission was broken. 

Pried off pump, filed down rusty motor shaft so pump would go on without destroying the pump plastic drive socket. Installed with new retainer clip. Was wonderful that you stock the parts to keep this very good old washing machine going. New appliances are a bunch of Obama overegulated crap. 

Replaced the Direct Drive Washer Pump & hose from the washer tub to pump. The Youtube website was very useful. 

Used YouTube videos, own skills, tools and replacement parts. Decided at purchase to also replace motor/transmission coupling because of age of machine. Other hoses seemed in serviceable condition so were not deemed necessary. 

Found your video on troubleshooting water leaking from the bottom of a washing machine. It appeared that it could be the Direct Drive Water Pump so I watched the video on how to replace it. Well, it was so well done and easy to follow with each step clearly demonstrated that I knew I could tackle it! What could have cost hundreds for a repair person to come to the house or much more to replace the machine, I now have this old machine working again! I even had my son help with the replacement! Yay for DIY! The only downfall was waiting for the part to arrive in the mail. Laundry is all done now though :) Thanks Appliance Parts Pros! 

First, we thought it might be the fill hoses. That was one problem. The next problem was the tub pump hose it had developed holes. While fixing that we noticed a retainer clip was worn out. That took care of most of the problems but when we tried the pump it started to leak. We replaced that now our 16year old washer works as good as new!! 

Watched the appliance pro video, showed exactly how to replace the pump. Job took me 30 minutes and that was mostly cleaning. 

It was major surgery to get the old water pump out! Tried to pry out the water pump but no good. Had to cut the pump out in little pieces with a Dremel tool. My Dad and I had to use gear puller to pullout the last few bits and pieces. The shaft was very rusted and swollen from the rust. The Video you guys provided was very helpful. In fact it was said that we might need to cut the pump out from a swollen drive shaft. You guys were right! Thank you guys very much! You guys saved me $1000.00 to buy a new washer.
