How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013140 / WP8546127 Retainer Clip

Once I found out what part I needed, and thanks to AppliancePartsPros a reliable company, we order it and we had the part with in 24 hrs, When you say fast shipping, that you are. 

Replaced pump and both retainer clips 

Pinpointed the source of the leak on the front of the water pump. Ordered the pump and the two retaining clips. Once the parts arrived, I checked into how I was going to do the deed. I watched the video of the serviceman PULLING THE CABINET OFF THE WASHER! Not me!. Being a "do-it-yourself" kind of guy and it wouldn't have been the first washing machine I have crawled under. I pulled the machine out from the wall, tipped it back, blocked up the front and it took me probably all of 10 minutes to swap out the pump and retaining clips. I wish my wife's BMW was that easy to work on. 

Replaced with new retainer clips and new capacitor to fix future problems

Pulled front panel...blocked up front of machine...pulled hoses..drained..approx 1.5 gal..inspected ..pump ..very worn drive keyway..cleaned drive shaft..coated with petroleum jelly..reassemble..new pump and NEW retainer clips...cycle test 

I first went on line to see how to remove the cover. Then I went on line to see how to replace the water pump. I received very helpful instructions. A side note was shared that one might need to clean, file or scrape any rust off of the motor shaft turned out to be very useful. I did not know that this water pump had been leaking for some time and the motor shaft was 'swollen'. It required quite a bit of filing and sanding before the water pump would go on with out being forced. 

First, let me start out to say that the delivery was unbelievable. I ordered the pump on 12/17/2014, and less than 24 hours later, I had the pump and replacement clips in my hands, and this was their standard shipping! Truly amazing! I watched their video on how to replace the pump on the AppliancePartPros.com website. Before seeing the video, I would probably have struggled to remove the pump from the bottom of the machine. But the video showed how easy it was to take the front and sides off and it made replacing the pump an absolute cinch! It took me less than 10 minutes from start to finish. Watch the video first, I didn't even have to disconnect the H & C supply lines and drain hose. 

I ordered a new pump and retainer clips from Appliance Pays Pros. Took only 2 days to receive the part. The repairs on these machines is super simple, and went very well.
