How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008773 / WP37001042 Dryer Drum Support Roller

My granddaughter is 24 yrs. she wanted to learn how to fox things. I have been buying parts from Appliance parts for 50 + years. I am 75+ .Can't get down any more. Had her watch repair video & she said no problem with tear down or assembly. We got the tools out & within 1.5 hrs. she had it up + running. I helped hold the front panel + drum on assy. She used snap ring tool, screw driver, putty knife, small socket set 20+ yrs old still runs good. Appliance parts is the way to go. 

Installed the new idler pulley. Quiet as a Swiss watch now. Also replaced the drum rollers and belt. 

The dryer was making a very loud clunking like a bearing supporting the drum had come apart. When I opened the dryer up I saw that the drum is supported by two rollers at the rear. One roller was obviously bad and had a ton of free-play in it. Went on-line and ordered that parts. Replaced the bad roller and axle. Make sure that you replace the axle since you are already in there. The job is not technically hard, it's just a pain since the rollers are in the back and these things were not built with service in mind. 

I replaced the 2 drum rollers and the Belt Tension roller..Im not sure which one it was so I replaced all 3 of them..Thnaks to the expert help videos of Appliance Parts pro I was able to repair them myself 

Identified the parts needed at AppliancePartsPros.com, ordered the parts, viewed the how to video, received the parts and did the repair. 

I found the belt tension pulley was the problem, and since I already had the dryer disassembled, I also replaced the drum support rollers and belt I would also like to mention that only two days after I ordered my replacement parts, they had already arrived at my home! Fantastic! 

Replaced the belt, belt tensioner, and drum rollers. 

In researching the problem on You Tube I ran across video by AppliancePartsPros.com. After viewing there how to replace/fix videos I felt sure enough of what the problem would be, ordered parts that I might need, (I had narrowed it down to belt tension pulley or drum support rollers). Three days later I had my parts in hand. Now I had never torn a dryer apart before, but about one and half hours after I started the dryer was repaired and drying clothes. Basic steps were: 1 remove front of dryer cabinet. 2 Loosen top of cabinet and tilt out of way. 3 Take a few quick photos of wire connections that needed to be disconnected. 4 Disconnect wires and remove lint trap and air flow chute from front of drum. 5 Undo belt from motor and lift drum out. 6 Determine bad part and replace. 7 Reverse all your steps to reassemble. REMEMBER SAFETY IS FIRST Unplug/Disconnect unit before attempting any repair. 

The parts came the next day after I ordered online. I was not expecting the order for a couple of days. I received all the parts ordered and replaced the idler pulley, drum roller, Teflon slides for the front drum and belt. It took less than an hour and it runs quiet. Just like new. Very satisfied with the price and speed of the transaction. 

I replaced both of the drum rollers, the belt roller and the belt. That solved the issue. Easy repair once I knew what parts to get.
