How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008773 / WP37001042 Dryer Drum Support Roller

Replaced motor. Watched several online videos on how to replace the motor. 

I replaced the heating element, the high limit fuse, the hi-limit thermostat, and 2 drum support rollers. 

Initially thought belt broke. After watching several of your how-to videos I removed the top and front panels only to find the belt intact. Once I removed the drum I discovered the belt tension idler pulley was at fault. I decided to replace the belt, drum rollers and belt tension assembly while I had it disassembled. Thanks to the informative videos you have posted on your website, my repair was easier than expected and took less time than I had imagined. Once again my 17 yr old Maytag is humming along. Thank you. 

The dryer was about 18 years old, and all the parts were "just plumb worn out." All the parts I ordered were genuine factory parts identical to parts in the dryer. Since I have been inside this dryer before, this repair only took about an hour. Good as new for a few Benjamins, a lot less than $1200 for a new dryer. 

New belt and rollers. 

Parts fit well. Helped to have had dryer apart before and watched repair video. Split ring holding roller in place has very small eyelets. Should have good snap ring pliers, not the cheap set I found in bargin bin. 

Replaced drum rollers, one of which was cracked, idler pulley and drum drive belt, drum slides and felt pads. Used a bungee cord to support the drum to the rear bulkhead to make it easier to install the front bulkhead. You will need snap ring pliers to remove the snap rings more easily, which I had. 

Went online to see what site I could find parts in and found this site. So gave it a go and found what I needed pretty quick and ordered next-day delivery. Parts showed up on time and everything was changed over within an hour. Replacement parts were an exact fit and perfect match for my dryer. Everything went smooth and now it runs well again!. 

Replaced the drum support roller bearing. Not a difficult job. The worse part was getting the belt back on the motor shaft and pulley.

I took apart, cleaned, identified the faulty parts and followed the video instructions on how to order the parts for my specific model. The parts arrived after 4 days and the repair turned out to be a complete success. What took the longest was the cleaning.
