How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6023867 / WPW10705575 Turbidity Sensor

Watched repair video, ordered seal kit and installed. Old seals hard and crumbling. 10yr.old dishwasher. One thing: old seal assembly had a spring between volute and impeller. Not shown in video or in kit? Put together without spring,so far, so good. 

Looked up the problem online, found a video about replacing the turbidity señor at AppliancePartsPros. Ordered the part and installed it per the video. Went very smoothly. Thanks for the video! 

The codes made it look like the heater but the heater was fine or water inlet related which it was not. Appliancepartspros told me about the codes being misleading and Turbidity sensor which I would have never considered or even knew existed. I followed their video to replace it along with their extra advice on what to do to completely clear codes and the dishwasher has never worked better. Without their tech support I would not have been able to fix it. Time to repair does not include the diagnostic cycles. Most of the time was uninstalling and reinstalling the washer. My washer was also screwed in the sides not the top so I had to pop out two plastic side plugs and I also used new slightly longer screws making sure they were in enough so the plugs would snap back in. To use the original short screws one would need a magnetic screwdriver tip which I did not have at the time. Actual repair took under a minute. Just unplug connector, twist off sensor, twist new one on, and snap back connector. They shipped the part same day and I got it the next day and immediately did the repair. As a side note, these guys have everything and really help. If you don't see it call them and their prices are great. 

My 10 year old Whirlpool dishwasher wasn't cleaning the dishes or drying them. I was getting water to fill and drain but not clean. The detergent pod was not dissolving or partially dissolving. The diagnostic code was confusing and not helpful. I was thinking the heating element but after using the problem solver questions on your website I came across this turbidity sensor. Two other customer reviews described my exact problem which was fixed by installing the new sensor. I ordered the part and installed it easily. My dishwasher is working again and getting the dishes clean and dry. I'm so thankful for your website and the way you have common problems identified and once I clicked on my dishwasher problem it led me to a possible solution and it worked.

Listing the symptoms did not find the solution on the diagnostic portion of your website however reading your customer comments did allow me to match into the Turbidity Sensor. It solved the problem. Sensor install on the KDFE104DWH2 KitchenAid dishwasher for me was much easier than your install video. Instead of disconnecting and unscrewing the entire disheasher and then laying it on it's back the install was simply reach under from the front. To be clear it took days checking spray arms, filters, water level switch and reading diagnostics web sites. The diagnostics was 6 out of 10 difficult. Installing the sensor was 2 out of 10 difficulty. 

So I decided to order the parts that didn't look right. I did everything myself. I got the parts changed AND had it all back together except for the door. All done in 2 hours. 

It also left suds after final rinse. I read ALL the problems the paper with the machine presented, but none were quite like the problem I was having. I performed several diagnostic runs too. Then I remembered i had replaced this part before - years earlier. Installed part with little satisfaction. So I dug deeper into machine and took apart drain pump and agitation pump. Finally the machine finished in a reasonable time & was quieter, but still had lots of suds after final rinse. We are not using pods anymore and the suds problem is going away. The problem we had is now manageable. 

I changed the turbidity sensor. 

The Thermal fuse was replaced but here is the thing I guess I did not tighten the screws on the connection block well enough. The dishwasher would only run during a short cycle but would shut off during a long cycle when the heating element was used. Everything was replaced on the unit, the turbidity sensor, the control board, control panel, motor and the issue continued. I was on the verge of junking the dishwasher when on a whim i checked the thermal fuse harness, turns out the wire was not pushed in completely and must have been creating a short which would cause the dishwasher to stop. After tightening cutting the wire again and making sure that it was inserted properly into the thermal fuse wiring harness, the machine now runs like a gem. So please inspect your wiring harness on the thermal fuse and make sure it is installed correctly, it will save you from future headaches.
