How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5989871 / W10831329 Dishwasher Toe Panel Insulation Shield

When the parts came in I attached the insulation (it has a glue strip) and simply screwed the toe panel to the brackets attached to my dishwasher. Super easy and inexpensive. No outside help needed!!! THANK YOU APPLIANCE PARTS PROS! No telling what it would have cost to get someone out here not to mention the waiting game avoided!!! 

Our dishes were getting mostly clean but we started finding really fine food particles inside cups/bowls (especially our tall travel mugs). Very long story short, the rubber flapper valve in the adapter assembly had warped and was no longer closing, so dirty water was remaining in the tub during the rinse cycle. I may just buy an extra since it will probably fail again in a few years and I'll need to replace it again. 

The replacement lower door seal fixed my issue. It was a fairly easy part swap and the order arrived quickly from AppliancePartsPros.com. 

Cleaned drain. Replaced insulation. 

I peeled the tape from the back of the "sponge" replacement piece, and pressed it in place, and replaced the toe kick on the dishwasher. 

Replaced sump and diverter motor. There were several issues with the replacement parts: The sump came with two clamps to attach the pump to the sump. The smaller of the two clamps was too large and would not tighten around the hose. The larger of the two clamps was too small and would not fit around its hose. I had to find replacements at the local hardware store. The diverter motor came with a small instruction sheet telling me to use the enclosed grease on the shaft of the motor. There was no grease. It also came with a wire pigtail with two fuses but no instructions for its use. Whirlpool needs to do a better job of quality control!
