How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6015060 / WPW10110491 Spark Module

Sealed burner gas cooktop has to be removed from the counter top in order to disassemble. This means disconnecting the gas line. To disassemble the unit you will have to remove the gas line regulator. Once the unit is separated you will see the spark module. I replaced the module. Note: Because the new module has been updated from the original it does look different. I suggest you put the new module along side the old taking one wire at a time from the old to the new. If your unit is as old as mine (15yrs) I suggest replacing all the burner ignitors while you have the unit apart. All said and done the new spark module fixed the problem.

After a bit of web research, I purchased a new spark module for my gas range. Installation was very easy, although the new replacement was a bit longer than the pre-existing part. I also needed to replace the screw that holds the module in place with a longer one because of the design of the module housing, but that was no big deal. The repair was extremely easy, anyone would be able to do it. I can once again light my burners!

Changed and replaced the spark ignitor 

The spark module had gone bad. I ordered it and replaced it. It is in the top left corner behind the top back panel. fairly easy after you know how to do it. 

Replaced spark module with guidance from supplied video. part was not exact replacement so I had to attach the module with slight modifications. 

Visited AppliancePartsPros.com to see what the problem could be. Spark Module or igniter. Determined that it's the spark module. Module received was exactly as advertised and purchased, but looked different to what was in the appliance. AppliancePartsPros had a section that identified this and described clearly what needed to be done. The how-to videos are great; informative and accurate. Very happy, though replacement parts cost more than one would expect. 

Replaced igniter spark module for stove top. It was only difficult because 2 screws broke off while taking burners off to get to the spark module to replace it. Once the broken screws were finally removed, replacing the part was easy to do. If all had gone seamlessly, and screws had not broken, it would have been about 25-30 minutes to complete the replacement of the part instead of more than an hour. If anything additional is needed in the future, I will definitely use this company for ordering parts.
