How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4008524 / 12001514 Washer Lid Switch Assembly With Fuse

Replaced the whole lid switch assembly. Probably could have only replaced one of the two switches but I was unsure which was not functioning. Attention!!-The wiring connection was not the same as the original. I had to use the original wiring harness and connection by removing the new wiring attachments and connecting the existing one. 

Replaced lid switch assembly. I was worried that I would be in over my head, but it was actually very simple to do. The part arrived very quickly. 

I spoke with a technician from appliance parts pros, he told me what he thought was the problem. I needed to replace the Switch Assembly. the tech also told me where it was located and how to get to it. I was very happy that I was able to install and my machine works. THANK YOU

Sears tech diagnosed the problem, gave me a $300 estimate, I watched how he took the lid apart and ordered the parts myself for $85, it took about an hour, turned it on and it started to go, I was very impressed and happy 

Replaced lid switch assembly. 

Removed front panel and top lid. Total of 4 screwe. removed top and lid after unhooking bleach connector tube and unscrewing switch and an additional part in center of lid which also has a hose. 1 screw each, parts have a tab that locks into lid. Replaced lid switch and placed wiring harness into attached sleeve on inner lid, replaced lid and connected harness. Checked old fuse along left inner body of washer, still good. Replaced fromt panel and washer works as before. Your parts diagram makes it easy to determine how everything lines up. Super fast shipping, ordered at 1030 am, got part next day via fed ex. 80 dollars and a 1/2 hour of my time vs 400 from a repair shop.

Your online schematics were a big help. You had the new lid and check switch in stock, got it shipped to me mid-week and replaced with no trouble and we are back in service. Please. Let folks know that a new check switch is supplied within the lid switch assembly part! Saved a bunch of money over a service call!
