The Lid Switch Assembly with Fuse is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It ensures that the washer's lid is securely closed before the machine operates, preventing the washer from running with the lid open.

Over time, the lid switch assembly can fail due to regular wear and tear, electrical issues, or damage to the switch mechanism. Exposure to moisture or repeated opening and closing of the lid can also contribute to its deterioration.

Symptoms of a bad lid switch assembly include:

  • The washer not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • The machine not spinning or agitating
  • No response when trying to start a cycle
  • The washer filling but not advancing to the next cycle stage

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Hello Bill. They do not offer those screws. You should be able to take the old ones to your local hardware store and match them up to something that will work. Thank you.

My washer would not turn on at all and so I ordered a lid switch assembly which came with a fuse. I installed the new lid switch assembly but the washer still won't turn on. Where does the fuse go? Is it for the fuse block attached to the front of the washer below the fill switch? Or does it fit somewhere in the new lid switch assembly? I know I should have tested parts before replacing without knowing. But our washer seemed to be failing in this area before it seemed to lose power. thanks very much, Mike

Mike, Yes the fuse WP22001555 is located on the front cabinet flange. The fuse controls the neutral circuit of the water valve. If you replaced the lid switch assembly, and it's wired correctly, then the washer should spin/drain even if the fuse is "blown". If that doesn't solve the problem, you want to start at the terminal block and make sure there are no loose wires or connections, then check and make sure the "umbilical cord" between the dryer and washer doesn't have any corrosion on the "pins" and connectors and it is seated tightly and properly.

Washer fills OK, usually runs all the way through the cycle but sometimes won't to agitate or stops midway. Can get it to restart by opening the lid then dropping it closed or banging the side of the cabinet once with an open hand. From what I've read it sound like an issue with the lid switch, but since it's intermittent is there anything that could be out of adjustment? If not is it better to replace just the lid switch or the whole lid/check switch assembly? Thanks, Dan

Dan, You will want to check the lid hinge and make sure that it is securely in position and if it checks ok then the most likely cause for the failure would be in the lid switch. You would want to replace the switch.

Hello Jay. That is correct. It should only make contact when the unit gets out of balance. There is nothing wrong with the install or the rod.

AB, First you'll need to remove power to the laundry center, and remove the washer front panel. Slide the washer out, from under the dryer, enough for the washer top panel to clear the dryer cabinet. In each top rear corner corner is a 3/4 " opening, you'll need to remove the 3/8 inch screw in each. in the front corners you'll find a 3/8 " screw , facing up, they hold the front of the top to the cabinet and will have to be removed(you may have to dismount the water level switch and relays to access the one on the left. Once you have the screws removed, you can raise the washeer top, from right to left, use the draw string to hold the top from fallig over. The switch assembly is mounted to the washer top pael by a clip inserted in the top and one(1) screw.
