How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6014074 / WP9761048 Infinite Switch (Dual Surface Element)

I fixed it by replacing the control from appliance parts pro. It took about 30 minuets and that includes pulling the stove out and putting it back. The burner works great now. Thanks 

Ordered new control switch. Repair was straight forward and easy. 

Changed switch. 

Replaced the switch assembly; the job took about 15 to 20 minutes. Removed the back panel of the oven :10 screws and then followed the video on Appliance Parts Pros. 

I saved myself $150 by replacing this part myself. After watching a few videos on this site, I opened up the back of my electric range, snapped a photo, removed the part, and looked up the part number. I cross-checked the part number with my model number to be sure it was compatible. It took me five minutes to install the new part once it arrived, using the photo I took earlier to match up where the wires go. Repair guy would have cost $110 for diagnostic and $40 for install. 

Searched online watched videos seemed easy enough to do, Ordered the part from Appliance parts pros, Realized the next day I might have ordered to wrong infinite switch. Called and the person that took my call checked and confirmed that I had ordered the front right and I needed the front left switch. She helped me complete the order for the switch. Said that I could return the one. I kept it and replaced both in about 30 minutes. 

Purchased the part, viewed the video and in less than 15 minutes it was working perfectly. WHY did I wait so long. The repair man was going to charge me over $200 and even $40 over the price for this part. Thank you Appliance Parts Pros. I'm a hero in my home once again. 

I had to call to get the right switch, there were several for the model and there was no indication of the correct switch for the burner. My question was answered quickly and the correct part arrived very fast. The whole repair took me exactly 11 minutes and I wasn't in a hurry. This thing that irritated me for years was fixed in minutes, wish I had done it a long time ago.
