How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6014019 / WP9759474 Infinite Switch Top Burner Control Switch

Within 6 months of use of the switch on the large dual element of the left front unit, the switch came loose from the mounting plate and would not allow the switch operation. It took me over 10 years to decide to fix it. The new switch was totally redesigned and was attached to the mounting plate directly with the small screws instead of using the mounting plate pressed onto small plastic horns on the switch, which ultimately failed when the user likely used too much downward pressure on the unit control knob when turning the unit on or off. The unit had to be completely lifted up and set on end from the cabinet cutout in order to remove all screws from around the unit enclosure. Then screws were removed from the front end panel to open the switch panel. Then the small screws holding the switch in place after removing all electrical connections followed by the reverse procedure on the new switch completed the repair, once the unit was reinstalled in the cabinet. The job takes about 2 hours and requires an electric Phillips screwdriver to save time. 

Replaced the Infinite switch. it took about 20 minutes start to finish. Burner works like it should now. 

Trial and error only cooktop unit. Everything mounted into the counter and needed to pull unit out. I figured it was a control switch or the burner itself. Based on costs, I took the less expensive route and replaced the 2 known malfunctioning switches. All on-line videos said it was a 2-3 hour process to replace. I finished mine in less than 30 minutes. Turned breaker back on and it works like a charm. 30 years old and still going strong. 

I replaced an infinite switch and a simmer select switch. 

Using the chat feature on your web site I explained the problem to your customer rep and after supplying him the model number of my glasstop he informed me that it was the infinite switch. He ordered the switch during our chat and it was delivered the next day. I powered off the circuit breakers to the glasstop, disconnected the power cable , and lifted the glasstop from the counter. With a phillips screw driver removed screws an removed glass which gave access to the box containing the infinite switch. It was just a matter of removing wires from broken switch and attaching them on on new switch. Replace box cover to switches, reattach glass top and place back on countertop. Connected power cord and turned on breakers. Easy job, saved at least $150 if Ihad called a service company. 

Replaced thermostat in oven and replaced the control switch on the cooktop burner that was not working. 

Got online and found Appliance parts pros.com found you had the part number and part.I ordered the part then I replaced the whirlpool 9759474 Infinite Switch.the shipping was very fast.thank you. The part was just like the one I Remove from the cooktop and the part was a whole lot cheaper then buying a new cooktop. Thanks again. 

Replaced burner switch. 

After paying an appliance repairman $200 to tell me he couldn't fix my electric cooktop, one burner of which was boiling water at the lowest setting, I took to Google and Youtube to figure out what the issue was. I watched a 5 minute APP video and ordered the infinite switch from their web site immediately. The part arrived in 2 days, and it took me all of 5 minutes to fix (10 including the time to find the right breaker to turn off - box in this new house wasn't labeled correctly). Thanks APP!
