How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007666 / WP3149400 Range Surface Element Switch

Remove and replace the surface element switch. 

Simply removed the back cover to have access and removed the knob from the front. Removed the part and replaced it. Reattach the wires. Then reassembled the back panel and knob. 

Replaced range surface element switch, aka burner control. Seems to be a weak link in this model of range. I think this is the third one I've replaced over maybe 25 years. Took longer to clean underneath the range than it did to replace the part.. 

Ordered a new switch for my burner and installed it all by myself!!! 

Replaced the surface element switch for the large burner. 

Replaced the surface element switch. 

Replaced the burner element switch. The stem on the switch was longer than the original part, and it made the knob stick out farther (1/2") than the original and the other knobs. I contemplated cutting off the extra stem length but was not sure if this would create a problem, especially in regards to a warranty. I did not alter the part. It is noticeable cosmetically but does not impair the switch from working properly. 

Removed the old switch and replaced it with new one. 

Replaced the switch and the video was easy to follow and very helpful. Works like a charm now. 

Purchased a new Surface Element Switch and watched the video on how to replace the switch.
