How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6016541 / WPW10185982 Dryer Timer Control

Plastic shaft on timer knob broke rendering dryer un-usable. 1/4" socket & a small driver are all the tools I needed. Took about 1/2 hour to replace. 

I diagnosed the problem myself and ordered the part I needed from this company. It took about 15 minutes to remove and replace the timer unit. It has 4 wired connectors that easily unplug, and 2 screws ( in back) holding the timer in place, once you remove the back cover panel - you will need a 1/4 nut driver to remove any of the screws ( panel and timer ). The control knob in the front of the panel comes right off with a easy pull straight out. When you remove the wired connectors - hold them by the plastic connector - NOT the wires! Make you you UNPLUG the dryer before doing any repairs on it for your safety. Once I completed the repair, I turned the dryer knob to one of the OFF positions and then plugged the dryer back in, turned it on and checked it - working fine! :) I would recommend buying from from this company - parts work the 1st time around and shipping time was within a few days as promised. 

Pulled the console off the dryer, replaced the timer, and attached the knob back on the timer pin. AppliancePartsPros.com was prompt in shipping the replacement timer.
