The Dryer Timer is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dryers. It is a critical component that controls the timing and sequence of the various drying cycles, ensuring the machine operates correctly and efficiently.

Causes of needing to replace the dryer timer can include general wear and tear over time, electrical malfunctions, damage from power surges or voltage fluctuations, or moisture or water exposure within the timer itself.

Symptoms of a bad dryer timer include:

  • The dryer failing to advance through the complete cycle or getting stuck in one part of the cycle
  • Cycles running for an incorrect duration (too short or too long)
  • The dryer failing to heat, tumble, or stop at the appropriate times

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Rachel, The dryer not shutting off would most likely be a timer issue but the longer drying cycles would most likely be a clogged vent.

Rachel for Model Number 110.c61102010

Hi. My dryer has a intermittent heating problem. Sometimes it work normally, sometimes it start heating but stop before the cycle's end and sometimes it does not heat at all. I have already change all thermal switches and fuse but the problem still their. I did test the element for continuity and short to ground and it look ok. I think it could be the timer but i would like to have your opinion has this part is the most expensive to replace. Thanks for your help.

Rachel, With there being intermittent heating then it will most likely be an issue with the timer causing this issue.

Janice for Model Number WED4815EW1

This dryer has been heating even on the air fluff setting. I checked the element and it isn't grounded. I even went so far as to put a new element on it and the same thing happens. I checked the cycling thermostat and it checks out okay with 6.9K ohms at room temperature. I changed the timer assuming that was the problem and it still heats constantly. I've had to change out a couple of thermal fuses to keep it running. I've double-checked the voltage at the outlet and am getting 240VAC. None of the wiring appears to be bad (burnt, bare, etc.). What am I missing?

1 Answer

Janice, with the power cord unplugged, the timer would need to be set to air fluff and tested from terminal A to terminal B for continuity. If there is not continuity, the timer is working and the next step would be verifying that the wiring is correct in accordance with the wiring diagram of your model.

Hello Daddyfix, If the dryer is still heating the issue would be the timer WPW10185982 if there are no wiring issues. If it is not heating, it could have a bad centrifugal switch in the main drive motor 279827.

Joanne, The model number that you have listed WPW10185982 is a part number not the model. If this came off the timer then it should be the correct timer for the model but we would really need to have the model number of your dryer to be able to confirm this.

Hello William, I'm sorry but we will need more information to diagnose the issue you are experiencing with your dryer. In what position will it start and where is it stopping when it stops before the end of the cycle? Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
