How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008573 / WP3406725 Dryer Timer (2-Cycle)

I am a recent widow, so was not sure I could do this on my own. I watched the video, took panel on back off and ordered a new timer. It was very easy. Saved me the cost of a repairman. 

Installed new timer 

Looked online for possible fix. found a forum that explained how to troubleshoot problem. suggested timer bad. replaced timer and it fixed problem. 

Disconnected power. Pulled off timer dial. Removed back plate. Removed wires. Unscrewed mounting screws then removed timer. Replaced in opposite order. 

The technician determined that the timer was most probably the problem. We ordered a new timer and it came in just 3 days. The video was very helpful. Timers are easier to install than I thought. Now the dryer works great.

I visited the manufacturer website to investigate the correct part number for a replacement timer mechanism. Then I bought it at applianceparrspros.com. I replaced the part as soon as it arrived and now my electric dryer works like new. 

Replaced timer with new part. Worked perfect after install. Only problem was gaining access to inner panel, video was not specific to our unit, took a while to find the correct screws to remove for access,( 2 screws,1 left, 1 right,were hard to find and then access). Once I had access, it took all of 5 mins. to install and replace all screws. 

Tested the controls, guessed that the part was probably the one needing replacement. Luck was with me, it was what was needed. Works fine now. 

After looking on line for the possible problem, I ascertained it was the switch, not the knob. So I looked to see how difficult it would be to repair, before calling a service tech at $90 an hour. I found your video and it looked pretty easy, even for a 69 year old retired female with not one iota of repair experience. I ordered the part, which I received the next day. I followed the video instructions and wow, my dryer was working again! Faster and lots cheaper than a repairman, Thank you!
