Sabine S Bellingham , WA December 05, 2023 Appliance: Whirlpool Electric Dryer LEQ9508PW0 Dryer timer faulty Whirlpool ultimate care ii My dryer would only start (and keep running) after a lot of fiddling with the timer to find a position that "worked." The machine wouldn't turn on when the timer was set in the dry-sensor region, and eventually, it stayed running only when we pressed the timer button. As soon as the pressure was off, the dryer stopped. Clearly that wasn't sustainable. I'd been putting off the repair because our dryer vent situation is tricky; once disconnected it's a real bear to reconnect. Watching the repair videos online made me think it might be possible to do the replacement "blind," from the front over the top by feel, with the machine pulled only a few inches away from the wall. No harm in trying, right? I ordered a replacement timer switch which arrived on a SUNDAY, 48 hours after I placed the order (without any special shipping). Wow. It took some liberal swearing - and I developed a whole new appreciation for dentists and surgeons who perform procedures with endoscopes or via keyhole incisions! However, I got it done. The whole thing would have taken maybe 15 minutes with proper access to the back of the dryer, but we have to deal with the situation at hand, so. Taking the timer off the back was easy. Transferring the wiring from the old timer to the new one was easy. Reattaching the new timer to the back not so much (see "blind," above), but once it was in place I buttoned up the back panel and now we have a fully functioning dryer again. Yay!!! Thank you, AppliancePartsPros.com for the videos showing exactly how to do this job, or I would never even have attempted it. Read More... Martha B Fort Worth , TX August 03, 2014 Whirlpool dryer would not stop except by opening the door First the timed drying cycle would not cut off. Then the other cycles also would not stop until I opened the door. So I figured it must be the timer. This is the first time I have ever tried to repair a washer or dryer myself, but the video on this website looked very simple. My son and I first tried to remove the old timer to see how it might work before I ordered the replacement. It looked achievable so I ordered the part, received it the next day, and replaced it easily. It works! So I saved a service call charge and feel like my dryer will last a while longer (it's probably at least 15 years old.)
