How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013380 / WP8566184 Dryer Timer

The fix was good 

I replaced the timer switch. 

Replaced timer easy to do. Watched video 

Replaced the timer. The timer had the wire colors stamped on the appropriate plugs. 

I watched the videos on replacing the thermostat, heat coils and timer. Turned the dryer on to check if it got hot in any selection which it did ruling out the thermostat and coils. Recieved the time in 2 days took about 15 minutes to replace works fine now. 

First I'm not very handy, My wife and I have always called a repair service to fix whatever go wrong!!! Very$$$$$$$ When a friend showed us how to order the timer and said he would put it in the dryer, BUT I watched the video put it in myself!!! Felt like Tim the Tool man, Thanks for yur video and the money it saved us. 

Used a volt/ohm meter to determine that the timer was bad (search youtube for testing dryer timer). Replacement was plug-n-play with simple tools. 

Your forum talked about some symptoms that I was having so I took a chance and bought a timer and it worked perfectly. I will be back for my future issues. Thanks 

We looked up the dryer model on AppliancePartsPros.com, ordered it, it arrived in two days...my husband spent 10 minutes installing it and (yea!!!) our dryer works again! 

Replaced timer...fit like a glove......took five minutes to install.......thanks for the excellent service Tom
