How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5985208 / W10822278 Defrost Timer

Replaced the freezer timer 

Purschase day new timer and replace so far is working great 

Replaced the defrost timer. took about ten min. 4 days later -9 deg. working perfect ! 

I removed 4 screws that secured the control panel and detached two electrical connectors and a mechanical linkage that allowed me to completely remove the control panel. I disconnected the defrost timer connector and removed the push on retention clips that hold it to the panel. I broke one of the plastic posts in the process. Defrost timer is now working fine. 

Replaced defrost timer & bimetal. 

I replaced the defrost timer and the thermistat to control to keep both sides at the right temp 

New Thermostat, new defrost timer. 

I ordered a new motor on Thursday afternoon and it arrived on Friday afternoon, super service I say. On Saturday in swamped them over and then checked to be sure I had the wires hooked up right. The compressor came on just as the motor clicked at I declared it fixed. I did check on it again on Sunday morning and all was well. Thanks for getting me my part so quickly. 

Ordered defrost timer from AppliancePartsPros, watched repair video & installed new timer. Simple. 

Followed video instructions to replace defrost timer.
