How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5985208 / W10822278 Defrost Timer

Appliance Parts were amazing. My parts arrived the next day. I would definitely use them again for parts and fast service. Don't be afraid to call for assistance. They are very capable and my wait on the phone was less than a minute. It is a shame that more companies don't mirror Appliance Parts Pros customer service and shipping. I bought my parts before I called for assistance. It should have been the other way around but welcome to my world :) Unfortunately, my Defrost Timer and Defrost Thermostat were not my problem. No fault of Appliance Parts Pros. Glad that I don't make my living working on appliances. 

I replaced the defrost timer. There were no directions included with the timer I received. It was not a big deal finding directions online. The online videos were very thorough, and I was able to make the repair. 

Ordered a new defrost timer. 

THE REPAIR LITERALLY TOOK SIX MINUTES. CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS AWESOME! I NEEDED TO KNOW WHICH TERMINAL THE BLACK WIRE WENT TO AND WITHIN HOURS THEY WERE ABLE TO ANSWER MY QUESTION. EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE!

Replaced defrost timer. 

Googled the problem and followed troubleshooting suggestions. Discovered that the defrost timer was not turning, stuck in cold mode. I unplugged the fridge to melt ice dam and having used AppliancePartsPros in the past I went online and found the part for my model on sale so I ordered it. Part arrived at my door the next day. I then watched the repair video provided by AppliancePartsPros and replaced the defective part in less in about 30-45 minutes. The refrigerator has been running problem free for 3 days. Would highly recommend AppliancePartsPros.com to all Do it yourselfers. 

Replaced the Defrost timer. 

Replaced the comp start relay and that fixed it. I looked at the new ones and decided my old one was better so went ahead and also replaced all the control parts, defrost timer, defrost thermostat, cold control, door hinge kit. Even if the compressor needed replaced I would do that also. Running good now. 

I replaced the defrost timer and defrost bi-metal. The videos were really helpful. The parts are quality. The defrost timer fit in the control panel perfectly because the holes were the right size. The defrost bi-metal has copper wiring, which works well in my refrigerator because it has copper wiring. The pricing of the parts was also pretty decent.
