How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005741 / WP208292 Timer

Machine would start, fill, agitate, and rinse but when I opened the lid to empty the clothes out it was still full of water. I would have to turn the dial to the delicates spin cycle to drain the water. Replaced the timer and it is working correctly now. 

Tested all connections with a multimeter. Verified continuity at all connections. Since the timer was rotating but the cycles were not engaging I decided it had to be the timer was wore out. Replaced the timer.
