How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6016830 / WPW10197428 Compressor Start Device

I replaced both the compressor start device and the capacitor and the problem was fixed right away. It took me about 15 minutes total to swap the parts. The new compressor start device was slightly smaller than the one I was replacing even though it was the same manufacturer and part number. I had to bend the retaining clip slightly so it stayed tight, but it was very easy to install. 

Referenced problem on appliancepartspros web sight, 99% capacitor problem. ordered the capacitor, and compressor Start Device (better to do both) from appliancepartspros, problem solved. 

After looking at some YouTube videos and viewing troubleshooting tips on AppliancePartsPros.com, I was able to narrow it down to compressor start device and capacitor. After reading other reviews from people who bought same parts, I was pretty sure these parts would solve my issues. I Had parts overnighted and had fridge back to normal temperatures a few hours later. I‘d definitely recommend appliance parts pros.com to anyone and I’ll be using again if ever needed. 

Replaced with a new capacitor and relay start device and it runs like new now. The video guide on the fix made it simple and took 2 minutes.

After watching videos on appliancepartspros.com I removed the start relay and capacitor. I shook the relay, it rattled, so I ordered and replaced the two parts. Took about 10 minutes and was simple plug and play. Only tough part was pulling the refrigerator away from the wall. 

Researched why, isolated clicking sound, determined start/restart and or capaciter module went bad. Ordered and replaced both parts since I did not own multi-meter to test. Appliance Parts Pros video provided how do remove / install parts. Took 5 minutes. Saved $125.00 service call which would not have included overpriced parts. 

Replaced compressor relay. 

I looked up the model on your website and found the same issue solved by replacing the compressor capacitor and / or start device. I watched the video and ordered the parts which arrived in 2 days, for a small up-charge in shipping. I had it fixed in 20 minutes, start to finish. 

I found the parts at your site and how people fixed the same problem. Replaced the compressor, run capacitor, start relay & heard the compressor humming. I’m disabled but it only took me about half an hour. Thanks for all your input guys.
