How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010602 / WP694089 Blower Wheel

I replaced the blower wheel, belt and idler pulley and one of the drum rollers, and now the dryer is quiet as a mouse. And the fan with all its fins is more effective and blows better making the dryer work better! My Wife is really happy! My fan was stuck on the motor shaft and I was afraid to pry too hard with the wrenches so I got the light chisel out and from the back of the dryer I was able to chisel the plastic off the steel nut that is inside the fan, then I dripped a few drops of PB Blaster on the nut and shaft, let it sit a bit, then I got it to pop loose. It is reverse threaded so make sure you aren't tightening it when you think you are loosening it. That was my only difficult part. Everything else was quick and easy. Had it not been for the stuck fan, the whole job might have taken 30 minutes. The videos on the website were an awesome help! 

Bought new motor from Appliance Parts Pros (along with new blower, new idler pulley, and new belt). I decided to just replace the minor components as well while I had the dryer opened up. It was an easy swap on the motor. The only thing that was slightly difficult was separating the motor from the blower. Ultimately, I had to just break it off (causing me to need to replace the blower as well). The blower only cost an additional $9 and it literally screws on to the motor. 

I bought the blower wheel because I had to cut away the old blower wheel from the old motor because it was impossible to disconnect the blower wheel from the motor shaft. Read my story as to how I replaced the motor which included the blower wheel. 

Replaced the blower wheel and heating element. Took about 1.5 hours. Dryer works like New now. 

My parts were delivered the day after I ordered at regular shipping fee the only way this could have been more simple is if they had sent a repairman too 164.05 to fix vs 400.00 plus to replace 

I read the possible causes for the noise and found that it could be a few different reasons. I ordered the belt, blower wheel and roller kit. I replaced only the belt to see if it helped. The how-to video on this site was very helpful. It was actually very easy to do and something that I was able to do myself. I have also replaced the thermal fuse before which was just as easy. The videos are on point. I kept the other parts just in case. My dryer is probably 10 years old and as long as I can fix it with parts through Appliance Parts Pros, then I will continue to do so. Very easy project that took minimal time.

After diagnosing the problem, ordered a new motor, blower wheel and repair kit (new belt and pulleys). 

I took the whole dryer apart and checked the coils, all the sensors, and thoroughly cleaned the entire blower and venting system. After ruling out everything else, determined it had to be the motor. I used the videos on Appliance Parts Pros for step by step on dis-assembling the whole dryer and to help diagnose that it was ultimately the motor. I ran into a common problem where the blower wheel would not come off the old motor so I knew I had to replace that as well. That too was mentioned and detailed in the videos. New motor and wheel now installed and dryer is running like it's brand new. 

Tested motor without load, realized motor was bad. Could not remove blower wheel without breaking it. Lint housing foam seal needed replaced as well. Installed new motor, blower wheel, and foam seal. Works like new now.
