Gary P Berwyn , PA February 06, 2022 Appliance: Model GE 30" BUILT-IN PROFILE DOUBLE OVEN JTP55WOV2WW Broken oven hinges. 1. Pull electrical circuit breaker. 2. Remove door with a broken hinge(s) - the door is attached to the hinge via a slide mount (no screws or bolts) - open oven door at a 45-degree angle, grasp oven door with both hands and pull towards you - the door will slide out from the hinges (Caution: the door is heavy). I was replacing hinges on the upper oven so I used a ladder in this step. 3. Remove outside trim piece at bottom of the oven (grasp corner end of one side and push straight upwards until it pops off, repeat on the other side). 4. Using a screwdriver remove 8 screws that secure the oven to the mounting cabinet. (4 are located on inside of the upper oven, and 4 more on inside of the lower oven) 5. Pull the oven out about 6-8" from the cabinet. 6. Using ratchet wrench, remove 4 screws holding the hinge to the oven (2 inside the oven, 2 on the outside side of the oven – Hint: look at replacement part to see where the holes are and understand the location of the screws on the oven). 7. Wiggle the old hinge out (towards the back of the oven), remove, and then replace with a new one. Best to always replace both hinges (left and right) - If one is broken, a good chance the other is about to go. 8. Congratulations if you got to this step! The rest is self-explanatory. 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
