Maytag front loading dryer would not heat. The drum would spin and the blower was working but with no heat. I looked at other repair stories after finding the model number of the dryer, and found several that detailed similar issues and listed the parts used in their repairs. I ended up buying and replacing the moisture sensor bar, thermal cut-off kit, and the dryer thermistor. Also replaced the heating element. All these were very straightforward repairs and took relatively little time. The videos supplied in the parts listing were invaluable. After replacement, on the first run, I noticed the machine getting very hot to the touch on the top and the side. Realized that there was a major blockage in the exhaust vent, and cleaned that out using a DIY brush kit. LOTS of lint and debris. Finally achieved free airflow, and the dryer worked perfectly. Now theorizing that the blockage tripped the thermal cut-off (luckily), and stopped the heat.
One note, I was trying to do this repair using my 1/4in ratchet set and a 1/4-inch socket. I later broke down and bought a 1/4 inch magnetized nut driver and found it worked a lot easier. Just more simple.
Ordered the parts and did a two-day delivery option. Glad I did.
