After unplugging the washer from the electrical outlet, the top of the washer was removed without a problem in order to allow easy access to the Central Control Unit (CCU) at the top of the back end of the washer. A cell phone was used to photograph the wiring layout and connectors plugged into the CCU, and then all connectors and the harness were carefully removed from the CCU without incident. Attempting to remove the old CCU, the plastic retaining clips built into the old CCU housing broke in the process of trying to get them to release from the mounting bar. With the old CCU out of the way, the new CCU slid and locked into place on the mounting bar quickly and easily. Routing the wiring harness through the wire-ways molded into the CCU housing and plugging the connectors into the new CCU were simplified by using the preemtive photographs as a reference. The washer top was replaced, the washer plugged back into the service outlet, and final proper washer function was verified.
