Craig W Romeo , MI September 15, 2014 Appliance: Model WHIRLPOOL DUET WASHER F1e1 error No help from Whirlpool, they don't want to take the work away from their trained technicians ! ! f1e1 code is a general code for "check sum" or basically "lack of communication" There are 3 electronic control modules on my model Duet washer, I went with the stand alone unit mounted on the top LH side of the washer (take the top off). There is a secret tab on the inside rear of the unit that has to be released with a small screwdriver, then the unit slides to the rear to disengage from the top rail, then it is just a matter of unplugging all the wire bundles one at a time to transfer to the new unit and route everything as it once was. I plugged the washer back in just to make sure everything was communicating, which it was, unplugged it again and buttoned it all back together and ooofed it back into place, a final plug in and I was ready to do 4 batches of clothes. 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
