I turned off power and unplugged the touch panel ribbon cable. After restoring power and closing the dishwasher, it started running a drain cycle--this suggested the issue was the touch panel. Replacing the panel was pretty simple. Remove 6 screws (need a torx) bit, unplug the ribbon cable, take off the control board and the handle, and then reattach the new touch panel. At first, some of the buttons on the new touch panel didn't seem to work, but after running one cycle, everything is fine and we have run several cycles with no issues since then.
