I checked for the obvious things like a clogged drain hose or stuff in the sump. So I figured the pump was bad and ordered a replacement which arrived in three days. When I got around to working on it the first thing I did was check the resistance on the pump motor which seemed fine especially when compared to the new one. I removed the drain hose from the pump and out fell 2 thin shards of glass 2-3" long. I removed the pump and and connected to a electrical cord - seemed to be working but could not tell if pump was spinning. Took the pump cover off and an 1" piece of hard plastic straw fell out. Worked much better then. Put everything back together after cleaning and checking for further debris. I did replace the drain flapper valve because it seemed to have lost its flop. Everything works fine now! Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
