The first attempt was to replace the sensor board on the lower cooling fan motor. That didn’t fix the problem. Next, I replaced the lower cooling fan. The oven is working correctly for now. Time will tell.
The repair is fairly simple.
1. Pulled oven out of wall onto a platform that I built to be the same height as the bottom of the oven.
2. Took off the bottom back cover as well as the middle cover. I also had to take off a couple of pieces on the left side where the fan is.
3. There are about three or four screws that hold the fan in place.
4. Unplug the sensor connector from the fan.
The hardest part was figuring out how the main harness wire for the fan is unplugged. This can be figured out by looking at the plug on the new fan.
5 plug the two harness wires back in and put everything back together.
Overall the repair was relatively easy and only took about 30 min. Start to finish.
I compared how well the old fan spun to the new fan before I put the new one in. The new fan spun a little easier/better than the old one. I just hope this fixes the problem for good. I’ve read in various forums where pepper replace these fans and the fix lasted only a few months.
