Jack H Meadville , MS May 04, 2020 Appliance: General Electric Electric Wall Oven JK5500SF3SS GE double oven f97 code. The first attempt was to replace the sensor board on the lower cooling fan motor. That didn’t fix the problem. Next, I replaced the lower cooling fan. The oven is working correctly for now. Time will tell. The repair is fairly simple. 1. Pulled oven out of wall onto a platform that I built to be the same height as the bottom of the oven. 2. Took off the bottom back cover as well as the middle cover. I also had to take off a couple of pieces on the left side where the fan is. 3. There are about three or four screws that hold the fan in place. 4. Unplug the sensor connector from the fan. The hardest part was figuring out how the main harness wire for the fan is unplugged. This can be figured out by looking at the plug on the new fan. 5 plug the two harness wires back in and put everything back together. Overall the repair was relatively easy and only took about 30 min. Start to finish. I compared how well the old fan spun to the new fan before I put the new one in. The new fan spun a little easier/better than the old one. I just hope this fixes the problem for good. I’ve read in various forums where pepper replace these fans and the fix lasted only a few months. John O Las Vegas , NV September 13, 2020 Appliance: General Electric Electric Wall Oven JK3500SF6SS F97 code on GE jk3500sf6ss double oven. You will need a Philips screwdriver, nut driver, and star drivers for this repair. Cordless drill recommended. TURN OFF THE CIRCUIT BREAKER BEFORE STARTING!!! You'll need to disassemble the cord cap before pulling the unit. Take a picture to remember which wires are connected to which terminals. Placed a blanket on the floor for protection and mobility. Removed cooking racks and both doors, then pulled the oven, which is the hardest part to do alone. It's a heavy unit. Once on the blanket I was able to easily rotate the unit and remove the back panels. Take pictures after removing each part. It will save you some head scratching when you put it back together. Removing the old fan and installing the new fan / circuit board was a breeze. Replacing the panels and doors was a snap. Move the oven into place, tilt forward, and slide it up to the opening easily with the blanket. Push the wires/flex up into the hole (much easier with a second person). Once the rear is on the lip just push the top and the unit slides right into the opening. Thanks AppliancePartsPros for the next day delivery! Phillip N Elkview , WV April 18, 2021 Appliance: General Electric Electric Wall Oven JK5500SF3SS F97 error code. We have been getting the F97 error code for the last year. I could get the oven to work for a period of time by using my shop vac to clean and spin the lower fan, but eventually even that wouldn't work. My guess was that the lower fan or the board sensor was bad, so my plan was to replace both. Pulling the oven was fairly straight forward. Four screws at the front, and it slides right out. I removed both doors and all the racks to reduce weight. But be aware that the oven will not function with the doors removed, so you will need to replace them to test your work. I used a workout/weight bench to set the oven on (just happened to be the perfect height). Several overlapping sheet metal panels needed removed, but access to the lower fan was fairly easy. One big red connecting clip to disconnect and the whole fan and wire harness comes right out. I needed to borrow two nuts from the old fan to attach the new board sensor to the new fan. I would recommend taking a few pics as you go to remind you of the correct reassembly sequence. Overall the hardest part was getting the oven back in the cabinet. Ours was a replacement oven, and barely fit in the cabinet to begin with. Kept hitting the power cable and would not seat all the way back. After about 10 attempts, I was able to get it "good enough". My wife was able to bake cookies for the first time in 3 weeks.
