Pretty simple fix really Online videos including one on this website were very helpful. I used the screwdriver and hammer to force the coupler off the shaft rather than bend it up to get it off. Surprised at how easy the coupler came off after being being tapped in a clockwise direction as demonstrated in the online videos.
