Purchased and installed a new motor.
A few tips:
1. You will need to remove the frame assembly the motor is mounted to from the dryer. That means disconnecting wires that go to the belt switch and thermostat.
2. You need to unscrew the existing plastic blower wheel from the shaft CCW. This involves holding the shaft with pliers and using significant force. The plastic vanes are fragile and you will need a large set of pliers to hold the shaft in place. This was the most difficult part of the repair.
3. If you need to use the Dekalb to Nidec adapter, be sure to secure it to the motor before installing the motor.
4. There are some videos which suggest removing the motor mount clamp screws are sufficient. I found that removing the two screws that held the clam to the frame was a better idea. Then the clamp can be mounted to the new motor securely before installing the new motor with the clam attached into the frame.
5. You'll need a Phillips head screwdriver for all screws except for the motor clamp, which only takes a T-20 Torx
