I ended up removing the entire rubber cover so I could position the screw driver in one of the holes in the aluminum base before whacking it loose. Once I did that the old one loosened up and was easy to screw off. Installing the new one is so simple you don't really need instructions - except it's good to remember these are opposite threaded.
