Open the panel on the back of the dryer, moved the wires from the old control one at a time and plugged them in to the new timer, fixed the new timer in place, replaced the panel, and attached the new control knob assembly. The new control knob assembly has a metal ring around the plastic hole where the timer shaft fits. Hopefully this will prevent a future failure. This is the forth time I have put in since the unit was new in 2010.
