I watched the AppliancePartsPros.com video which described the symptoms I had and provided a detailed description of the repair. I purchased the kit to replace the tub suspension rods along with two new centering springs.
The installation was exactly as shown in the video and was not simple, but was not complicated.
There is quite a bit of tension in the springs so I pulled up on the rod and my wife was able to attach the top part needed.
So far no issues with the washer. Would have cost me two or three hundred to have a repairman fix this.
