I installed new shock absorbers. This is not an easy project especially for a 74 year old man with spinal problems. However, I saw what I had to do. I read the instructions that came with the shock absorber kit and did this project very slowly and very carefully so as not to hurt myself. I was lying on the floor with a pad under me and a pillow for almost all of this work. I needed a very heavy piece of steel to knock out the nylon retaining pins. A hammer would not fit inside the washer. It went well. I ran a load of clothes after completion and voila, the spin got far smoother. We can get a lot of mileage out of our old appliances with a very small investment. My washer is 13 years old. It works perfectly. It is a front loader. At some point I realize I will need to buy a new appliance. The longer I delay, the less money out of my pocket.
