Since the bearing is apparently no longer available for my old model, I used some J-B Weld to rebuild the plastic where the drum had worn it away. The top sliders were completely worn thru and the drum had cut almost completely thru the plastic bearing in some critical places. Good old J-B Weld did the trick. I put it back together, and it works like a charm.
