Amy N Pike Road , AL March 27, 2018 Constant beeping no heat My 12 year old Frigidaire stack on top dryer had been beeping distress messages in some unintelligible code for about a year when it completely stopped producing heat. It also had a long standing issue with delicate fabrics and thin straps or drawstrings getting caught in the drum. After using this site to troubleshoot and viewing the useful how-to videos, I ordered and replaced the heating element, thermal limiter, and felt seals. Based on others' stories, I decided to also replace the rear drum bearing and belt while I had it disassembled, and due to the advanced age of my machine. I knew that the beeping was probably indicative of a bad control panel, but chose to replace the cheaper parts first in hopes of avoiding that expense. Despite my complete lack of repair experience, I was able to easily take apart the machine and replace all the parts using common household tools. It was obvious that the old parts I replaced were worn or damaged and in need of repair. Unfortunately, the dryer still did not produce heat when reassembled. But good news: I had found a sheet taped to the inside of my machine that described the diagnostic test procedure and error codes. Once I followed these instructions, I was able to identify the last problem as "error code 62", the control panel. I ordered the last part and was able to install it in about 20 minutes using the video on this site. Now my dryer works like new, without eating my clothes and without all the beeping! Total cost of this overhaul was about 1/3 the price of a new dryer. Happy customer! Scott S Rigby , ID December 07, 2015 Appliance: Model FRIDGIDAIRE AEQ6000ES2 Dryer would hum when started but drum would not turn This was not a difficult repair, thankfully someone else had posted the same problem and a new motor was in order. After I removed the drum, I spun the motor shaft by hand and sure enough it worked. This was a partially defective motor that did not have enough power to initiate operation. I ordered a new motor along with a new blower seal and lower felt seal. I did not need the felt seal, but it comes with a tube of high heat glue which I needed to replace the blower seal. It was 12.00 for the lower felt seal and glue, but if you buy the glue separately, it will set you back 25 bucks. So just go ahead and get the lower felt seal kit, along with a blower seal. BTW, if you remove the front of the dryer which you will have to do to remove the drum, to get to the motor, you will probably tear the blower seal and you need to replace it in my opinion so you dont just blow lint alll over the interior of the dryer. That will wear out parts inside faster. It isnt a bad idea to replace the lower felt seal at the same time, just do it first before you do the blower seal. Don't forget to save enough glue for the blower seal. If you're afraid you'll run out, buy two kits. you will still be in it less than the cost of one tube separately. Good videos from this site to show you how to do it. Also buy a can of "Pure Citrus" orange air freshener at Wal-mart to remove the glue from the old seals, and use some Awsome Orange or Oxy Clean or some other kind of degreaser to clean off the "solvent" (air freshener.) They recommend not using the dryer for 24 hours to let the high temp cement cure. My dryer works fine now. Blower is left hand thread, you will need to remove it from the motor shaft. It takes a 7/8ths socket. Read More... 43 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
Michael G Chicago , IL August 23, 2020 Appliance: Frigidaire Dryer GLGQ2152ES1 Clothes getting stuck in front of dryer then later on a grinding and loud noise when spinning I'm new to how a dryer works, so I just started taking it apart to see what exactly was causing it. The video examples on the APP website were all amazing. It gave me a good idea of what I was getting into and showed me the common repair issues. The dryer being 12 years old, I was on the fence about repairing or replacing. However, once I got a list of parts I might need and getting the confidence by watching the videos, I said "what have I got to lose." The cause of the scraping and loud noise in the front was how the front glide rides solely on the upper felt seal. I would have thought that there would be more of a bearing type surface, but apparently, that was all that held up the front end of the dryer drum. Since I had it open and planned on keeping the dryer, I wanted to replace some of the other common issue items too. The upper felt seal didn't come with high temp adhesive, so I purchased that along with 2 front glides. This would have taken care of the issue at hand. The lower felt seal is not really a load-bearing surface (just seals in the heat) and that came with High Temp Adhesive. The rear drum bearing was probably still good but replaced it anyway. The kit was pretty inexpensive. And I figured to replace the belt just in case. Having all the parts delivered in a matter of 2 days was awesome! Thank you for the quick shipping! Especially since I had the dryer disassembled in the middle of my living room (Condo with an in-unit dryer). It really just took a matter of 2-3 hours to do the whole job and referred to the videos in case I had a question. The bulk of the time was cleaning out the inside of the dryer and searching for a screw that disappeared somewhere (found it eventually! Yay!). After getting it back together and waiting for the adhesive to do it's thing, I took it for a spin and was wonderfully surprised at how quiet it was!!!! Thank you Appliance Parts Pros for making this DIY's day and all in all instead of spending 900+ on a new dryer (not including installation) I spend 200 on parts and am so proud of my work. Greg D Manhattan , MT September 19, 2014 Appliance: Frigidaire Frigidaire/Laundry Center FEZ831AS2 Loud screeching metal on metal noise from dryer not always constant but pretty much most of the time Followed the advice from appliancepartspros.com and ordered the upper and lower felt seals and the plastic drum glide. I thought i was going to be several hundred dollars deep for the repair but they were right! The upper felt seal had been worn down....a few minutes time to apply the glue and set and like magic the dryer was fixed! i also replaced the rear bearing kit anyways since I already had the dryer apart and it wasnt that expensive. Great sound advice from this team and very helpful videos!!!! Read More... 24 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
