Because the ice maker was redesigned. I needed a new ice cream shelf. If your current ice maker has a power switch that is vertical, you will need a new ice cream shelf to make it fit correctly. The repair was very easy. All I had to do is loosen two screws on the ice maker mount and slide it out. Then disconnect the connector and install the new ice maker.
