This rectifier assembly (diode) is part of the microwave's high-voltage circuit, converting alternating current to direct current to power the magnetron. It works in conjunction with the high-voltage capacitor to double the transformer's output voltage. Replace this part if the microwave runs but does not heat, or if testing reveals the diode has shorted or opened.
The rectifier (a high-voltage diode) connected to the magnetron that supplies the RF energy that does the heating in the microwave was shorted. The shorted rectifier was found by using a multimeter to measure resistance which should be very high in this type of diode.
