Gary V Morrisville , PA December 09, 2017 Appliance: General Electric Washer WCVH6800J0MS Basket spider rotted and broke. I found two methods to make the repair, one involved removing the entire outer tub ( need a helper to lift it out) and splitting it apart outside the washer. The other method was to split the outer tub while still in the machine. I was working by myself so I used the second method. This repair took the better part of the day and is not for the faint of heart, lots of parts to remove and keep track of. I took several photo during disassembly to refer to when going back together. I found mostly metric hardware during the repair. The instructions say to replace the drum half seal and the locknut for the pulley which I ordered in addition to the basket assembly, when I unpacked the basket assembly I found it comes with the assembly and I didn't have to order them separately. Will try to return the unneeded, unused parts. When I disassembled the machine I found that the bearings were fine and the tub was rotted out. So I purchased a new machine. Raymond H Ellicott City , MD November 03, 2017 Appliance: General Electric Washer GFWN1100L0WW Loud noise in spin mode initially thought it was bearings. Dug in, With the assistance of YouTube I essentially removed everything from the cabinet assuming I was going to replace the bearings. When I finally got the tub removed I realized the arms on the tub/spindle were wrecked, I couldn't believe the damage. I ordered a new tub assembly from Appliance Parts Pros, it arrived next day. With the assistance of You Tube I was able to reassemble and it works great. This is a crazy amount of work and complexity, but with patience and YouTube videos it was possible with no problems. Just pay close attention to the order or removal and reinstallation and you'll be fine.
