Ricardo H Chicago , IL November 05, 2014 Appliance: Model DDG8280BACWH Yes the drive belt broke to our older general electric dryer We got on the internet and looked at several videos on how to repair broken drive belts on dryers. The videos were very helpful. We researched where to purchase the drive belt on line and found AppiancePartsPros.com. We read some of the reviews and decided this was the right on line company for us. The ordering process was user friendly. Congratulations! We followed the recommendations on how to fix a broken drive belt as indicated on line. It was not easy but we replaced the broken drive belt in approximately two hours. My wife Judy and I worked together on this project. I must say it was a two person project. Read More... G. L. V Harlan , IA February 03, 2015 Appliance: Model HOTPOINT DLB2884TAC WH The rear bearing for the drum was worn out and the belt and idler pulley were also bad our dryer was a ge hotpoint dlb2884tac wh from 1977 it's better than current dryers that use electric panel bds I called and talked with a service rep, Misti (great service person and knows her stuff). I emailed her pics of our dryer model tag and the parts I needed - beings the dryer is 38 years old. She got me the 2 parts she had and suggested another place to check to see if they had an idler pulley - which they did. She sent out the rear drum bearing kit and the drive belt. The videos are extremely helpful. I didn't think I'd need them, I was the top salesman for GE-Hotpoint appliance sales for 10 years and I'm very mechanically inclined, however, the videos that APP has available are great. I would recommend this company to everyone. I even got an old friend in the appliance repair business to look at this and he says he will use it from now on. Read More... David M Hillsboro , MO December 08, 2015 Appliance: Model GE MOD# DDE8200PBCHT The "tha thump" noise for each turn of the dryer drum indicated we needed a new drive belt First I watched the video and saw that the dryer front must be removed to make a way to remove the old belt and install the new one. My dryer was just over 40 years old, but I located the hex head sheet metal screws to release the dryer front which were in a different location than what the newer video had shown. After winding the serpentine belt through the idler arm and motor pulley, the belt came off the motor pulley a couple times. I remembered that the video showed the belt needing to be perfectly aligned with the wear marks left by the old belt. I had my front panel and top already reassembled, but not yet plugged back in, so I just turned the drum by hand a few more times until I could tell that the new belt was fully aligned. The project took less than an hour, but I spent an additional hour or so cleaning out some forty years of lint from inside the dryer. Read More...
