Description

This magnetron is the microwave's RF generator—the tube that creates the microwave energy used to heat food. Replacing a failed unit restores proper heating performance so your oven reliably cooks, reheats, and defrosts as intended. What it does:

• Produces high-frequency microwave energy to heat food inside the cavity
• Common failure symptoms: runs but no heat, loud humming/buzzing, burning odor, breaker trips or shutting off shortly after start
• Resolves weak heating and unusually long cook times when the magnetron has degraded

Install notes:

• Unplug the microwave and discharge the high-voltage capacitor before servicing; high voltage can remain even when unplugged
• Handle the tube by the metal body; avoid stressing the ceramic insulators or antenna
• Reinstall using the original mounting hardware; ensure correct orientation and reconnect wires as noted
• Test with a cup of water after reassembly; if no heat persists, further diagnosis of the HV diode, capacitor, or transformer may be required
