Steve T Kissimmee , FL January 11, 2019 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator HSS25GDPAWW There was reduced water flow at the door dispenser. First I verified there was good water volume getting to the door, by uncoupling the hose at the door bottom (press in coupler ring) and activating the dispenser, there was not. (have a cup ready) Since the water filter is inline, and I had another I subbed it. Still no change. Here I made an error. I verified the water supply was fine, so jumped to the conclusion it had to be the solenoid operated valve, which it was not. I did not realize that the water filter bracket it attaches to has it's own valve.next I removed this assy to get a look at it. This is called the Mwf water filter manifold. It is held onto the refrigerator by 2 (1/4 hex) screws, the attached water lines and a bracket at the top rear of the refrigerator (2 screws here) that basically bends the water lines at a 90 degree angle down. The lines couple to the water source and the solenoid valve. The "MWF manifold assembly" can not be disassembled, appears to have been glued together. There is a small spring loaded pin that is depressed when the filter is installed that allows the water to flow through it. When not depressed as when the filter is removed it blocks the water from flowing, without it it would be a big problem changing filters. I verified this was the problem, there was little water getting through it when depressed. For those reading this I did miss a important test, only because I forgot it came with it. Though I'm not sure it would have made a difference, the refrigerator came with a by pass for the filter. So, you don't need a spare filter to test it. Just insert the by pass "plug" (the new assy comes with another) The by pass plug works by depressing the spring loaded pin and should open the manifold valve While sealing the opening. This should allow the water to flow. Unless the pin is worn, or there is a restriction inside the assy. Anyway I forced hot water through it and it did eventually start to work. Installed back in the refrigerator, 2 days later, no water at all through it. I replaced the assembly and now it works fine. Note: when the water stopped completely so did the ice maker. I did open the old assembly, breaking it apart and could not find a blockage, yet it did not function. Possibly in opening it, whatever was there was dislodged. My guess it was something from the filter. William P Springfield , VA October 24, 2014 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator GSH25JFXJWW Water line rattled at back of refrigerator as if it had air in it and water spurted out By replacing the filter holder with the O-rings on it (MWF Manifold & Tubes Assembly). The part fit exactly and the attached tubing had the correct fittings pre-attached which made for simple installation. David H Needham , MA May 15, 2015 Appliance: Model GE MODEL GSH25JFXBWW The water coming from the ice maker and water dispensor had a foul odor and taste even after changing the filter I replaced the supply line to the fridge - no change in taste. I replaced the MWF manifold and tubes, the water inlet valve and the water storage line. That did it, good tasting water again! The ice still has a bad taste, so I'll replace the supply tube from the valve to the ice maker. Overall, replacing these parts was easy and the videos from Appliance Parts Pros helped. Christine S Gainesville , VA September 14, 2014 The water pressure had dropped significantly on my in door water dispenser A Google search convinced me that the problem was that the filter head assembly had failed. AppliancePartsPros had the genuine GE replacement part for $20 cheaper than the GE website, and with a very reasonable shipping charge I received the part the next day. A YouTube video showed me how to replace the filter head assembly. The only hard part was dragging the fridge out from the wall--I'm a woman and it's heavy! The water dispenser works perfectly now.
