First I verified there was good water volume getting to the door, by uncoupling the hose at the door bottom (press in coupler ring) and activating the dispenser, there was not. (have a cup ready)
Since the water filter is inline, and I had another I subbed it. Still no change.
Here I made an error. I verified the water supply was fine, so jumped to the conclusion it had to be the solenoid operated valve, which it was not.
I did not realize that the water filter bracket it attaches to has it's own valve.next I removed this assy to get a look at it. This is called the Mwf water filter manifold.
It is held onto the refrigerator by 2 (1/4 hex) screws, the attached water lines and a bracket at the top rear of the refrigerator (2 screws here) that basically bends the water lines at a 90 degree angle down. The lines couple to the water source and the solenoid valve.
The "MWF manifold assembly" can not be disassembled, appears to have been glued together.
There is a small spring loaded pin that is depressed when the filter is installed that allows the water to flow through it. When not depressed as when the filter is removed it blocks the water from flowing, without it it would be a big problem changing filters.
I verified this was the problem, there was little water getting through it when depressed.
For those reading this I did miss a important test, only because I forgot it came with it.
Though I'm not sure it would have made a difference, the refrigerator came with a by pass for the filter. So, you don't need a spare filter to test it. Just insert the by pass "plug" (the new assy comes with another)
The by pass plug works by depressing the spring loaded pin and should open the manifold valve
While sealing the opening. This should allow the water to flow. Unless the pin is worn, or there is a restriction inside the assy.
Anyway I forced hot water through it and it did eventually start to work. Installed back in the refrigerator, 2 days later, no water at all through it.
I replaced the assembly and now it works fine. Note: when the water stopped completely so did the ice maker.
I did open the old assembly, breaking it apart and could not find a blockage, yet it did not function. Possibly in opening it, whatever was there was dislodged. My guess it was something from the filter.
Hope this helps
