Ronnel L East Patchogue , NY November 15, 2023 Appliance: General Electric Washer GTW680BSJ0WS Washer does not start any of the wash cycles. Washer goes thru the initial steps like momentarily opening the water valve and locks the lid. Then nothing happens. I opened the cover panel of the control board. I visually checked for burns on the board and verified all connectors were firmly seated. I opened the bottom of the unit, and I saw the service manual in a zip-lock bag. From this manual, I verified that the drain pump resistance is good, the start capacitor is good, and the lid switch is good. I entered diagnostic service mode. Persistent alarms are 4 and 25.Error 4 means Reset Monitor, while Error 25 means Pressure Sensor Dropout. I successfully tested the Pressure Sensor (10), Recirculate Pump (11), Lid Switch (13), Spin (14), and Agitate (15). These tests indicate the main pump and belt work. The Drain Pump (12) test failed. At this point, I was confident about the drain pump. As an additional test, I used a voltmeter to measure the AC voltage to the drain pump. While in diagnostics mode, I initiated the Drain Pump test and verified that AC power was present, but the drain pump did not turn on (I heard a buzzing noise). I ordered (the evening of Nov 7) the appropriate drain pump. I also ordered the control board - I came across a similar story where the customer replaced the control board. Solution: The parts arrived Nov 9 - fast shipping!. I replaced the drain pump first. Entered service diagnostics mode and successfully tested the drain pump. I was confident at this point that it was fixed. I verified that the washer now works. Now I will have to return the control board. Overall, the website is very helpful, especially the stories posted by other users. This encouraged me to post my own story, hopeful that someone would find it useful. Ronnel L. E. Patchogue. Hartner J Martinsburg , WV August 20, 2018 Newer model GE washer would not drain Replaced pump. It is an easy repair. The washer's rear panel is not removable; you must tip the washer on its back. Had to drain the water from washer by attaching a shop vac to the drain hose before tipping washer. Entire repair took about 30 minutes. Received the replacement pump very quickly. Sara S Soldotna , AK October 06, 2019 Appliance: General Electric Washer GTW460ASJ4WW Washer not draining I replaced the drain pump and replaced the belt while I was under there since I noticed some shreds on the ground when I was investigating the problem originally. I am a girl and it was fairly easy to diagnose. I found the codes listed on the paper that’s taped inside the washer. There’s a service mode I was able to enter and that opened up the test mode. Every test was successful except for the drain test. So I entered my model on this site and was able to find the parts I needed Read More... 24 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers, Wrench Set
Tim H De Soto , IL January 07, 2020 Appliance: General Electric Washer GTW460ASJ7WW Ge washer wouldn't drain I started by looking at the error codes for the washer, but that was useless. After running the washer through a couple of cycles I found that the tub wasn't draining and the washer would only produce three clicking sounds and stop. After the washer was emptied of most of the water I checked to see if the washer drain hose was clogged. Since the water was free flowing I assumed the drain motor had gone bad.
